Metallic Paper

Hello and welcome! Today I would like to share a card inspired by Carissa Wiley in my next AECP course called Let It Shine - Level 1. There were six lessons in this course and since I really didn't learn anything new I chose Lesson #5 (Metallic Paper) to create a card. I love to foil but unfortunately I do not own any foiling plates from Altenew otherwise I would have created a card with foils since I recently bought  the Glimmer Hot Foil System from Spellbinders.

I kept my card clean and simple. This is my preferred card style although I do dabble in other styles from time to time. First, I did some ink blending using the Leaf Burst Stencil with blue and teal inks. Next, I cut out one of each of the dies from the Dainty Leaf Die Set with silver metallic card stock and adhered them to my card panel. Lastly I heat embossed a simple sentiment and with dimensionals I adhered it to where the two leaf branches cross. Very quick and simple with an elegant look.

Here is a closeup of my card.

Thanks so much for joining me today!

Stenciling With Dies

Hello friends! I'm so glad you are back. Today I am sharing a project inspired by one of the techniques that Yana Smakula demonstrated in a class she taught at the Altenew Academy called Easy Die Cutting Techniques that is part of my Altenew Education Certification Program (AECP). There were six lessons and I chose the one I have not done before which is stenciling with dies. I don't own any cover dies like the one Yana used so I went with a stamp and die bundle called Focus On You. I bought these products a while back and never used them so today was the perfect day to bust them out.

I used one of the flower dies and placed it on a small piece of typing paper with a full sticky note on top. The typing paper was too thin and I wanted to reenforce it a bit, also, if I wanted to do a bit of masking I already had my masking die-cut ready to use. I felt the cardstock I own was a bit too thick so to make a template so I chose not to use it. After I did the stenciling I took the image the die belonged to and stamped it directly on top of the stenciling. The image was then colored with my Faber-Castell Polychromo Colored Pencils. I did a bit of stenciling around the floral image with the Feeling Dotty stencil. Lastly I added a heat embossed sentiment from the set Leaf Canopy.

Thanks for stopping by!

Stamp Block Inking

Hello and welcome! I created this card after watching the Irresistible Inking Techniques class that is part of my Altenew Educator Certification Program (AECP)  Level 1 taught by Sara Naumann. There were four lessons in this class each showing a different and unique way to use your inks.

For today's card I am using the Stamp Block Technique. I used Distress Oxide Inks and had to do this several times before I was able to get a good rectangular shape. I was spraying too much water onto my block and the inks were seeping out the sides. I should have used the other side of the stamp block since the side I used is showing the grid marks of the block.

I do want to mention that I did not use regular cardstock. I used coated cardstock. The video mentioned that it would take longer to dry but it really didn't. I was able to stamp an image from the Starry Flower stamp set pretty quickly.

The closeup shots shows the grid marks more clearly. I thought it added a bit of interest to my card so I left it. I liked this technique and will try it again in the future using different shaped stamp blocks.

Thanks for dropping by today!

Stencil Techniques

Hello and welcome! It's been a long time since I have posted a card for my Altenew Education Certification Program (AECP) for Level 1. Today I created this card after watching a course taught by laurel Beard. She showed four different stencil techniques and I chose the stencil overlay technique for my card today.

The first thing I did was to mask off the edges of my card panel with wide tape. I did some ink blending with yellow ink I had on hand. I then masked off the edges of the card panel yet again with thinner tape, laid my stencil over the card panel and stenciled with red ink. Next, I stamped my vase and floral images and cut them out with my ScanNCut machine and adhered them to my card front. Lastly, I stamped my sentiment under the vase and added several jewels as a finishing touch.

I am a big stencil fan so watching the stencil technique videos was very informative and showed me how to experiment and use them in different ways.

Here is a list of Altenew supplies used to create my card:
